Recipes Traditional Greek Meze Appetizer
Meze,in Greece we call the small appetizers made of local products accompanied by either ouzo, beer or wine. We usually have them before lunch or dinner, or when we get together with friends and we eat them in a slow way.Here are a couple of the most popular recipes:
-2 cups strained yogurt (or the greek yogurt Total which you can find in Tesco’s or other big supermarkets)
-4-6 crushed garlic cloves
-2 medium sized cucumbers(peeled and shredded)
-1 teaspoon salt
-4 tablespoons olive oil
-1-2 tablespoons vinegar
-2 tablespoons dill (chopped in small pieces)
-1 tablespoon parsley (chopped in small pieces)
Put the cucumber in a strainer,drain and squeeze as much as possible to release its fluids.In another bowl put the yogurt and stir it for a few minutes very carefully. Add the garlic, the olive oil, the vinegar and the salt. Finally, add the parsley and the dip and mix all the ingredients very well but slowly or it will be watery.
Feta cheese in the oven
Take a piece of aluminum foil and put on it a piece of feta cheese.
On top of the feta cheese, put a few fresh tomato slices and a few green pepper slices, sprinkle some oregano and hot red pepper powder,
pour 2 tablespoons olive oil and fold the aluminum foil very carefully.
Put the feta cheese in the oven in high temperature for about 15 minutes.
